The Gambia Top Ten Restaurants
The following restaurants, bars, and cafés are highly recommended (in no particular order):
1. The Kora Bar and Restaurant, Kololi
One of the better restaurants in the area, with locally caught fresh seafood dishes, mouth-watering appetizers (try the coconut shrimp), and a wide range of favourites including their popular sizzling fajitas. Well-poured cocktails, excellent coffees (a rarity in The Gambia), and delicious desserts too.
2. Solomon's, Palma Rima
The best fish and chips in foil in the country. Order ahead and eat outside on their covered deck right on the beach.
3. The Green Mamba Garden, Kololi
Buffet/Mongolian-grill style cuisine with lots of choices of fresh vegetables, meats, and sauces. Creative cocktails and great place to meet people.
4. The Clay Oven, Fajara
Well-established and long time favourite Indian restaurant. Expensive but worthwhile.
5. Boss Lady, Kotu
Good local fare, located by the Kombo Beach Hotel. Try the domoda.
6. Al Basha, Kololi
Classic Lebanese restaurant serving authentic dishes in generous portions.
7. El Sol, Kololi
Great Mexican tapas, attentive service, and a good wine list.
8. Captain's Table, Kotu
Right by the Kombo Beach Hotel, serving good seafood and steak dishes.
9. Gaya Art Café, Kololi
Wonderful place for coffees and desserts.
10. Ngala Lodge, Fajara
Fantastic view, enticing menu, excellent wine list.
